THE GREAT START DEBATE

Last Sunday the Adventure Ecology team headed down to Clarence house for the Start Initiatives ‘Garden party to make a difference’ event.

David was talking as a part of one of the Great Start Debates alongside Dominic Casserley, Jeremy Webb, Robert Llewellyn and presenter Louise Minchin. The discussion was based around sustainability in our daily lives and the dilemmas we often face on a daily basis, from navigating our way around the supermarket mine-field of food miles and seasonal produce, to our dependence upon air travel (which by the way, is one of largest carbon debts you’ll ever make, excluding having children!).

The panel concluded the talk by giving their daily eco tips….
- Share a bath. (Thanks to David for this tip…he recently pledged to share bath’s with his much loved dogs!)
- Use public transport instead of your car.
- If your looking to replace household goods always go for the top energy rated models.
- Don’t have children. (A pretty controversial and extreme tip…but some say it’s the only way!)
- Insulate your home. (Robert Llewellyn explained that his extremely well insulated home can he heated from one wood burner in the winter – think of the saving on your energy bills!)
